Qualifications and accreditation

All Home Energy Rating assessors are required to go through a comprehensive training and accreditation process before they can deliver Home Energy Rating assessments. As a prerequisite, assessors will generally have a background in the area of either sustainable building or energy efficiency – for example, engineering, home design, energy auditing or similar.

This ensures that homeowners are given high-quality, consistent, professional advice.

The Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA) is a not-for-profit, independent organisation responsible for providing assessor accreditation services for the Home Energy Rating programme.

Among ABSA’s responsibilities are training, accreditation, quality assurance and monitoring of assessors. To find out more go to the ABSA website. [Association of Building Sustainability Assessors website.]
