The Home Energy Rating report
This page gives an overview of the Home Energy Rating report.
On this page:
Summary of the report
After an assessor conducts an assessment, they will generate a Home Energy Rating report for your home.
The report includes:
- Star ratings showing the energy efficiency of your home.
- Tailored recommendations providing practical information for the best ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home.
Star ratings
The star ratings show the energy efficiency of your home for each of the following:
- the building;
- the water heating system; and
- the home heating system.
More stars mean better energy efficiency.
The rating scales run between zero to ten stars, but it is unlikely that any home in New Zealand would currently meet a ten-star standard. Such a home would require no energy inputs (apart from the sun) to maintain a healthy and comfortable indoor temperature throughout the year.
Recommendations
The recommendations are a key part of the Home Energy Rating report – this is the information that can help you bridge the gap into a warmer, healthier and more cost-effective home.
The recommendations are tailored to ensure they are realistic and effective for your particular home or building plan.
