Quick money saving tips
Here are some tried and tested money saving tips:
- Switch off all equipment when not in use.
- Buy the most energy efficient appliances and equipment. (See Energy Star appliances) [ Energy Star website.]
- Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps, or tungsten halogens with metal halides. Use a professional lighting designer for new fit-outs.
- Check that thermostat controls on heating and cooking appliances work properly, and think about your temperature settings.
- Make sure your hot water thermostat is set at 55°C at the tap and the cylinder is well insulated.
- Check that fridge door seals are in good condition and replace them if necessary.
